Recently, I did something different….nothing. No To-Do list, no plan for the day, no feeling like I was racing against time to get things done. I spent 24 hours alone in a beautiful cottage located on 100 acres of nature with walking trails and beautiful vistas. I took a nap without feeling guilty. I woke up without an alarm clock. I worked on my art and writing.
Yes, I did check my phone, but I kept it out of reach to prevent mindless scrolling. It was amazing. The fact that this is something unique and noteworthy is an important point. We all spend too much time running from place to place, focusing on other people’s priorities and we lose sight of simple stuff.
I will be honest, I returned to my “real world” after my 24 hours and immediately fell back into the habit of doing rather than being. BUT, I caught myself, took a deep breath, and slowed down. I still got everything done that needed to be done, but I felt less stressed and pressured. I wish the same for you today.
